Part of why we don't remember people being sick is that the stigma about cancer was so much greater. All those awareness walks and ribbon campaigns have helped people be public with their illnesses in a way they couldn't be - even into the 1980s.

Hugs!

Chris,
I know your mother. When she told me about what is going on with you I got nosey and googled you. It landed me here. What an awesome writer your are. Your blog is incredibly addictive and entertaining. I am especially surprised at how affected I am by your recanting of the "patients" perspective of being sick.

I will be graduating and becoming a new RN in December of this year. After four careers and 42 years on this earth it is a new direction. Your experience has unveiled a great deal of the "problems" I have struggled with in the medical industry. The whole experience has lots of room for improvement. I just hope I can be a change maker here in Arkansas and help people just like yourself by righting some of the wrongs that ARE controllable.

Thanks for your words...you are and will be in my prayers and I love that GOD is so prevalent in your fight.

Chris,

I've only met you once (at our Club 506 office party) but just wanted to wish you and your family all the best. It's unfortunate when good people have to endure such shitty things in life, but after reading your whole story and hearing about what you've had to go through so far, I don't doubt that you'll keep pushing through and kick this thing in the ass.

Hang in there, hope the little one is doing well.
Best of luck dude, stay strong.

Chris,

We are praying for you all the time! My little brother is a leukemia survivor. I was too young to remember most of it, but I do know that you're going to pull through this no problem. Let us know when you all ever need anything.

Chris,

I followed this off of Gapers Block, so you don't know me from Adam. However, I am an almost two year survivor of Stage 2A Hodgkins Lymphoma. Chemo is lousy, the side effects stink, but you WILL make it through! I will continue to follow your progress towards the day your Onc Doc declares: REMISSION!

Chris: Thanks so much for sharing what you have been through. I couldn't stop reading. I'm glad you have the support of your wonderful family and your many friends.
