who is designhawg?
Chris Courtney is designhawg and designhawg is Chris Courtney.
Wondering why he just doesn’t go by Chris Courtney? Well, there is a home salesman in Minnesota also named Chris Courtney who has it in his professional interest to reside at the top of Google search results whenever you search my name. I opted to choose a different handle, rather than start fielding requests to look at starter homes by the Mall of America. The decision has worked out for both parties.
In somewhat related matters, I am employed as a UI/UX designer by apptivate.me which builds mobile applications for the iPhone and Google Android platform. Do not ask me which I prefer as I may hit you in the head with a Palm Pre.
Previously, I earned my living in newspapers (those are the things that people used to stuff in big metal bins on street corners and expect people to pay money to rescue these pieces of paper out of the box. I know, ridiculous right!?!)
But seriously, I still love print and think newspapers have a bright future—just not as you know them today.
I am a proud member of the Society of News Design and recently joined ONA (why? not sure yet.)
I chew way too much gum, drink too much Diet Coke and listen to my music way too loud.
